DCAS
Monthly Meetings
Monthly meetings, open to the public,
are held the
second Monday evening at 7 p.m. at the
PUD auditorium on Sandridge.
The only Months we do not meet are December and January.

Discovery Coast Audubon Society will host,
on March 8th, 2010 at 7 p.m. SPEAKER: Jen Zamon,
a local fisheries biologist from NOAA of Pt.
Adams Research Station, Hammond, OR
Presenting “SEABIRDS, SEALS, and
SALMON:
Marine Predators as Fisheries Oceanographers”
Like all fishermen, animals that
make a living from the sea must be successful at predicting when and where fish
become available. Jen will discuss how the feeding behavior of marine predators
provides insight about habitats and processes important to fish and humans. Her
presentation will include linkages among tides, topography, and fish
distribution, as well as tips for observing the behavior of easily seen local
predators like birds and mammals.
The meeting is at PUD auditorium
on Sandridge Road,
just North of Pioneer Road. See you there!

Here is a link to the site too.

They
should have on the schedule the best viewing times for shorebirds. I think it
will be kind of late afternoon. They don't have the full schedule posted yet
but I found the best stuff to be on Saturday.

Share Your Ideas for IMBD Themes
Each year, the International Migratory Bird
Day theme provides organizers with new information about issues related
to bird conservation. Please take a moment to share your thoughts about
the proposed theme for 2011 and your ideas for future themes by
completing a 3-question survey. An IMBD theme must be
conservation-based, current, positive, tangible, educational, and
engaging. It must also be usable by IMBD organizers in diverse
organizations throughout the Western Hemisphere. Your input is
appreciated!
Yes! I'll vote on the theme.
