Dear Discovery Coast Audubon, We found a young Common Murre on the beach at Ocean Park last week. It was getting dark and cold, and as we approached, the poor little bird scurried over to us, huddling next to my husband's shoes for shelter from the wind. I located Discover Coast's phone number, and your volunteer was incredibly helpful and efficient at identifying the bird, explaining how to handle it, and coordinating a meeting point so that we could get the bird to rehabilitation. Thank you so much for your rehabilitation work and fine volunteers. We are happy to support and sing the praises of Discovery Coast Audubon Society! Sincerely, Michele and Patrick Neary.”  Patrick Neary is a cinematographer.

On the phone with the WCNC rescue center.

Transporting the little Murre to its new home at the
Wildlife Center of the North Coast!
(the volunteer said the bird would be joining 50 other
 young murres at the center!)

The little murre waddled up to my boots and stayed close.

Cold and hungry!
